PRIVACY
Last updated 13 October 2026
Press2P keeps as little about you as it can, keeps it safe, and never sells it. This page explains what we keep, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions? Email [email protected].
WHAT WE KEEP
- Your account: first and last name, email address, username and password. Your name and email stay private; only your username is shown to other players. Your password is stored as a one-way scrambled code that can't be turned back into the password, not even by us.
- Signing in: a code that keeps the Press2P app on your PC signed in. It's stored encrypted on your PC and scrambled on our server.
- Server logs: when the app connects, our server notes the time, your username and your internet (IP) address. We use these to keep Press2P running and to stop abuse, and delete them after 90 days.
- Playing online: while you play, your button presses (and, if someone watches as video, the picture and sound) pass through our server to the other players. Chat messages go to the people in your room. We don't keep any of these afterwards.
Your games never leave your PC: Press2P doesn't upload, share or download any games.
WHY
To give you an account and let you sign in (UK GDPR: to provide the service you asked for), to send you the emails that go with it, like confirming your address or resetting your password, and to keep Press2P safe from cheating and abuse (our legitimate interest). We don't send marketing emails.
HOW WE LOOK AFTER IT
- Accounts are kept on our server in the United Kingdom. Names and email addresses are encrypted, and everything travels over encrypted connections.
- An encrypted backup is made every day; backups are kept for 14 days.
- Wrong passwords, sign-ups and email requests are limited, and repeated wrong passwords lock an account for a while.
WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED
- one.com sends our emails from [email protected].
- Cloudflare delivers this website and our server's web pages, and provides the security check on the sign-up and forgotten-password pages. It sees your IP address and browser details to do that, under its own privacy policy.
- The libretro project: the app downloads box art and game lists from its sites (thumbnails.libretro.com and GitHub), which see your IP address. Nothing about you is sent. You can turn box-art downloads off in the app under Settings › Box art.
We don't sell or rent your information, and don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Your account stays until you ask us to delete it. Sign-ups never confirmed by email are deleted after 7 days. Server logs are deleted after 90 days and backups after 14 days.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything with it. You can also object to how we use it. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
COOKIES
This website uses no cookies and no tracking or advertising. The security check on the sign-up and forgotten-password pages is run by Cloudflare to tell people from bots.
CHILDREN
You need to be 13 or over to create a Press2P account.
CHANGES
If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell account holders by email about anything important.
